Cottbus Day 1 - Qualification
For her first tournament under the new code, Khorkina was struggling a little but still made it to the bars and beam final with a 9.475 and a 8.300 respectively. She came out top in bars with Verona Van der Leur (NED) close at her heels with a 9.225. As for beam she barely scraped into the finals, coming in eighth spot. Maybe her foot is still hurting her but it can't be that bad or she won't take part. Anyway, let's hope for a victory from her alright and I do believe she will deliver it. =)

Not only Sveta but other gymnasts are also struggling with the (oh so difficult) tough new code. Even gymnasts like Zamolodchikova - Sveta's team-mate - who have already performed under this code a few times failed to qualify for floor - on which she won the Olympic gold medal in Sydney - due to a miserable 7.775. She managed to come out far above the rest in her trademark event - vault - with a 9.538 which is much higher than second place's Denise Lopez's 9.299. She also qualified for bars with a 8.825 to get sixth.

Another Russian, Lobaznyuk, did well too with a constant performance. Her vault average of 9.075 garnered her a sixth place while a 8.750 on floor took her to third. Her best came on beam where she scored 8.925 to take second spot.

Olga Roshchupkina had a third on bars with a 8.975, a fourth on beam (8.725) and fifth on floor. Van der Leur who has been in great form lately added a first on floor to her bars qualification.

Lots of people have been e-mailing me regarding this and I've finally got an answer for them. Alright, his name's Artem and he's a Russian who lives in Adelaide, Australia. This photo was taken when the Russian team was in Adelaide in 2000. Hope you like this interesting tidbit. =)

Just something on this site!
Due to my computer breakdown and thus, difficulties, this page hasn't been updated as frequently as it should have been. I'll not be publishing news before this date as I find it'll already be outdated and most of you will already know it. Hope you guys can understand. For the time being, I'll be uploading news from my laptop until my computer returns from repair. Until then, please bear with me.

Sveta Injury!
Due to an injured foot, Svetlana Khorkina might not be taking part in Cottbus. She will see how her foot is before confirming her participation.

Rumour: Sveta On Playboy Again?!?!?!
She has not denied her interest in shooting photos for Russian Playboy again after that previous time. Rumours of her posting more photos on Russian Playboy has surfaced again and this time there is a real possibility of her appearing on Russian Playboy if her conditions are met.
