Lobaznyuk Looking Better =)))
GymWorld to Leonid Arkayev, President of the Russian Gymnastics Federation and National Coach. He said, that Ekaterina has to undergo a surgery next days. "I talked to the doctor, who is  a real specialist on his sector", he went on, "and now everything doesn't seem to be so serious for me anymore." He expects her to be back in three weeks. Other sources still expect a much longer time for her return to gymnastics.

Ekatarina's mother tried to explain to OEG what the team doctor told her, after he visited Ekatarina in hospital. Since my knowledge of medical Russian is insufficient, I was under the opinion she told me the knee was twisted/bruised badly (perelom), with most concern given to the attachment of the ligament to the bone, where some damage might be done. Still, Ekararina's mother cried when the doctor told her this news, and she was given permission to leave the judging team to attend to her daughter. OEG will be a few more days in Moscow, and will try to visit Ekatarina in hospital, conveying your best wished and concern to her when possible.

Today had the apparatus finals in World Stars and Russian Nationals, with some gymnasts needing to compete in both. Given what happened to Lobaznyuk, Arkaev told Zamolodchikova (who was qualified into three finals in the morning and afternoon each) to leave it to vaulting in Russian Nationals, despite protests from Elena that she found no problem in competing vault and floor twice a day.

Haven't had anything interesting in a while. Well, just wanna inform all that the Russian Champs are at the end of this month so the gymnasts are probably hard at training.

*EXCLUSIVE*
Also, good news for all Brazilian fans. Khorkina and Nemov are going to Brazil in May for some tournament. Will let you know when I've got more information.

Cottbus Day 3 - Beam & Floor Finals
Stayed up late just to get the results for the Cottbus and here it is!! =)

In beam, Bai Chun Yue won in the winners final over Lobaznyuk. I'm not sure how did Khorkina fare but I'll let you guys know when I get the results in. (Gymmedia is not working on my computer for some reason but you can get the full results there)

As for floor, Lobaznyuk won in the winners final over Van De Leur with a 9.200 to Verona's 9.100. So guess Katya is the best performer here, together with Zamolodchikova. They each had a first and second place finish.

I'll add more news, and pictures and videos tomorrow and the day after. So look out for them. I'll also be listing Khorkina's new routines. For Khorkins's first competition under the new code of points, it's great to see a first place finish from her. Looking forward to seeing more wins under her belt in the coming months.

Cottbus Day 2 - Vault & Uneven Bars Final
Unbelievable!!! In the bars winners final, Khorkina and Zamolodchikova faced off and guessed what, Khorkina won with a score of 7.775 against the 7.200 of Elena. Tell me if you can believe that. Unfortunately, Svetlana fell from the bars on her Stalder-Tkatchev move and just when you thought Elena was going to have a straight run, she came off too. Elena has a new  mount in her routine which was really cool to watch, and she fell off on her transition from the lower bar to the upper bar. Svetlana seemed to be laughing about it and both girls took it well, joking with each other. Despite coming off first, Svetlana won she fell on her Stalder-Tkatchev (Ricna) move. If only they hit their routines - as in the previous round - they would get decent scores above nine. Well, to qualify for the winners final, Svetlana got 9.475 while Elena had a 9.350.

As for the vault final, vault specialist Zamolodchikova pulled off a victory against Oksana Chusovitina with a 9.575. Denise Lopez who came in second in the qualification, was taken to a hospital after landing badly (on her head and back) on her vault.
